Wichita PD Master Gang List

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the The Kansas Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

The Wichita PD Master Gang List that is described in WPD Policy No. 527 that includes the reasons that the person was added to the list, the date the person was added to the list, sex, race, and name of gang affiliation. Due to the fact that this list contains personally identifiable information, I fully expect the names, addresses, and the month/day of the person's DOB to be redacted. I do expect the year of the persons DOB to be included in the responsive records in order to assess the approximate ages of individuals in the WPD Master Gang List. Recent news reports over the last few years indicate that there may be about 2000 people on the WPD's "active" gang list, which may consist of nearly 100 juveniles. I am assuming that the WPD Master Gang List is stored in an electronic format or database that would allow for the FOIA officer to quickly and easily make the appropriate redactions to remove personally identifiable information.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
