FBI loosens up on drone redactions, slips first inventory number

Bureau possessed at least three small unmanned vehicles … in 2010

Four and a half months ago, a federal judge ordered the FBI to release thousands of documents on the agency’s use of drones. In the 800 pages released so far, the Bureau has meticulously redacted basic information on its use of unmanned aerial vehicles, even for its past inventory and purchases.

The FBI’s latest release includes plenty of the same heavily redacted invoices we’ve reviewed for weeks.

But one number slipped through.

It’s from 2010, and the figure is hardly exhaustive. But it’s something.
