With election’s tomorrow, building an informed democracy is on a lot of minds. Every day, we work to make that goal a reality, educating thousands on the power of public records laws and helping release millions of pages of documents. We can’t do that without your help — and now, through a program called NewsMatch, your donations will be doubled.

Since 2010, MuckRock has helped open up government in innovative and impactful ways, from our successful three-year battle to open up the Central Intelligence Agency’s archives to ongoing reporting on the private prison industry to helping ordinary people around the country file over 50,000 public records requests to get their questions answered.

Earlier this year, thanks to a generous donor, we were able to bring on a full-time FOIA Fellow to cover state and local public records issues exclusively, helping us put the finishing touches on in-depth guides to every state’s public records laws.

But we know there’s a lot more work to do. That’s why we need your help. From now through December 31st, NewsMatch will match your new monthly donation 12x, or double your one-time gift, all up to $1,000 per donor. That means if you donate $10, MuckRock will receive $20 — but if you start a $10 a month recurring donation, MuckRock will receive $240.

With your help, we can continue reporting on transparency around the country, expand support for thousands of people who rely on our help, and can experiment with new ways to make transparency relevant and accessible to millions of people each year.

To get started, head to our donation page, pick the level you’re comfortable with, and, if you’re able to support us with a recurring gift, click “Monthly” to have your donation matched over the full year.
