whether the crime was against individuals or a business / property
number of victims
race or ethnicity of the victims
gender of the victims
the offense classification

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Hi Kiesha,

Thank you so much for your response. Can I ask about differences between what you've provided and what the Ada County Sheriff reported to the FBI for those years?

In 2010, for instance, the FBI's UCR Hate Crime report indicates that the Ada County Sheriff reported one hate crime with an incident date of 2010-01-18, with one victim and one offender. In the report you've provided, you report 'n/a'

In 2012, your report indicates one victim, while the FBI report indicates no cases.

In 2015, your report indicates one case with 5 victims, while the FBI report indicates no cases.

Truly appreciate any help sorting this out.

Thanks,
Ken Schwencke

Hi Kiesha,

Thank you! What happened to the 2012 and 2015 cases, though? Were they not actual hate crimes after all? How did they wind up in the original report, while the others didn't?

Appreciate the help!

Dear Mr. Schwencke:

From my understanding, the original statistics located using summary narratives to assist in identifying an indication or reference to bias. The amended version parallels what was sent to the FBI and their definitions of hate bias.
