Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code ยงยง 6250), I hereby request the following records:

I am requesting any and all documents that your agency retains regarding the 2016 Republican National Convention (RNC) held in Cleveland, Ohio. In particular, this request is for all records included but not limited to correspondence, memorandum of understandings (MOU), electronic data, e-mails, photographs, intelligence data, notes or other materials.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Dear Ms. Hill:

The Department of California Highway Patrol (Department) received your request for records made pursuant to the California Public Records Act (CPRA), dated September 26, 2016. Please accept this notification of the Department's determination.

In your CPRA request, you asked for records relating to "any and all documents that your agency retains regarding the 2016 Republican National Convention (RNC) held in Cleveland, Ohio. In particular, this request is for all records included but not limited to correspondence, memorandum of understandings (MOU), electronic data, e-mails, photographs, intelligence data, notes or other materials."

The Department has identified records that are responsive to this request. As the event has been determined to be a National Security Event, the Department is withholding these records on the following legal bases:

* Government Code section 6254, subdivision (f)

Attorney Kieutien Do, in the Department's Office of Legal Affairs, is responsible for the legal determinations to withhold certain records from public disclosure.
