- Any and all email and written correspondence regarding Kappa Alpha Theta from and between university administration, the Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Office, University Police between January 1, 2024 and April 1, 2024
- Any official complaints or reports of incidents involving university police officers and Kappa Alpha Theta in the last 12 months
- Any police activity, presence or reported action at 611 E Daniel St, Champaign, IL 61820 between January 1, 2024 and April 1, 2024
- Any police activity, presence or reported action involving reports of domestic violence at 910 S 3rd Street, Champaign, IL 61820 between January 1, 2024 and April 1, 2024
- Any disciplinary action by the university and or relevant offices affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta in the last 12 months
- Any and all legal documents relating to any current, former or dropped legal proceedings relating to Kappa Alpha Theta in the last 12 months

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I am writing to invoke an extension of the deadline for responding to the request under the following section(s) of the FOIA, which allows for additional time when:

* 140/3(e)(i) the requested records are stored in whole or in part at other locations than the office having charge of the requested records;

* 140/3(e)(vi) the request for records cannot be complied with by the public body within the time limits prescribed by paragraph (c) of this Section without unduly burdening or interfering with the operations of the public body.

We are taking the additional five business days allowed by law to complete processing this request. The revised deadline will now be April 26, 2024.

Information responsive to your request is available and attached. These are public records numbering 10 pages. Please note that no document could be located for your request for "...police activity, presence or reported action..." Portions of these records have been redacted or withheld pursuant to the following section(s) of the Act:

* 140/7(1)(a) that exempts from disclosure "Information specifically prohibited from disclosure by federal or State law or rules and regulations implementing under federal or State law." The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. ยง1232g) protects the privacy of student education records and prohibits the release of any information from a student's education record without the consent of the eligible student.

* 140/7(1)(b) that exempts from disclosure "Private information, unless disclosure is required by another provision of this Act, a State or federal law or a court order." This includes home addresses, and University Identification Numbers (UINs).

* 140/7(1)(c) that exempts from disclosure "Personal information contained within public records, the disclosure of which, if disclosed, would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy, unless the disclosure is consented to in writing by the individual subjects of the information." This includes student information, victim identifying information, complainant identifying information, respondent identifying information, personal relationship information, graphic details, third-party identifying information, and personal health information.

* 140/7(1)(d)(iv) that exempts records that would "unavoidably disclose the identity of a confidential source, confidential information furnished only by the confidential source, or persons who file complaints with or provide information to administrative, investigative, law enforcement, or penal agencies." The requested documents include information about the identity of (or information provided by) person(s) who provided information to an administrative agency during the course of investigation.

* 140/7(1)(f) that exempts from disclosure "Preliminary drafts, notes, recommendations, memoranda and other records in which opinions are expressed, or policies or actions are formulated, except that a specific record or relevant portion of a record shall not be exempt when the record is publicly cited and identified by the head of the public body." This includes pre-decisional records containing deliberative opinions, notes, and recommendations.

* 140/7(1)(o) that exempts from disclosure "Administrative or technical information associated with automated data processing operations, including, but not limited to, software, operating protocols, computer program abstracts, file layouts, source listings, object modules, load modules, user guides, documentation pertaining to all logical and physical design of computerized systems, employee manuals, and any other information that, if disclosed, would jeopardize the security of the system or its data or the security of materials exempt under this Section." This includes internal links.
