Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
A copy of the Department of Education's California Public Records Act request logs for calendar year 2018. These logs should include a request date, description of records requested, requester organization (if applicable) and current status of the requests.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Hello Ben,
Thank you for contacting the California Department of Education (CDE). The CDE does not have a record(s) responsive to this request. The CDE does not maintain a "log" or track the many hundreds of PRAs it receives each year. Each division or office within the CDE handles PRAs relevant to that division/office and the great majority do not log for or track PRAs in any fashion. There are a few offices within CDE that have chosen to log or track PRAs in recent years, although not all of these offices record all of the information that you seek and there is no assurance that the log of PRAs for that office is complete. Among the offices at the CDE that logs PRAs in any manner are the Special Education Division, the Office of Equal Opportunity, the School Facilities Division, the Categorical Programs Complaint Management Office and the Charter School Division.
If you wish to receive copies of the logs from one or more of these specific offices within the CDE, please let me know and I will determine a cost estimate based upon whether the records are available electronically or on paper and whether, if available electronically, production of the records requires compilation, extraction or programming of data. Please be aware that any records or any information on these tracking sheets that is exempt pursuant to the Public Records Act, Government Code section 6250 et seq., may be withheld from production.
