From: Department of Corrections

Dear Mr. Lipton,

The purpose of this correspondence is to respond to your Open Records requests received by the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) on September 20, 2018. GDC has reviewed your letters and determined the following:

Request 1: All policies related to the employment and payment of incarcerated persons under the jurisdiction of this agency.

Response: Offenders that are selected for the work release program are assigned to a Transitional Center. Attached you will find the relevant Transitional Center Standard Operating Procedures (215.01, 219.19, 215.20, and 215.22). You may also find these policies and others on our public website. http://gdc.ga.gov/content/215-Policy-Transitional-Center

Request 2: The most recent report regarding currently-employed incarcerated persons under the jurisdiction of this agency. Please include all available segregable information, including the type of employment, the wage at which the employment occurs, and any other applicable information. Please do not include any personally identifying information.

Response: The GDC does not possess a comprehensive document or report that captures the exact data that you have requested. However, we have compiled documents that capture much of what you are seeking. On our public website you will find monthly Profiles of Inmates at Transitional Centers. These monthly reports contain a variety of information including some of the information you are seeking. Here is a link to the website for your convenience:

Request 3: All reports regarding post-incarceration employment for individuals formally under the jurisdiction of this agency.
