Mr. Waltman,

The request for public records below was forwarded to the Police Department for processing.

Government Code 6253(c) of the California Public Records Act allows a 10-day limit for responding to requests for public records, and it permits the extension of that deadline by an additional 14 days in the case of unusual circumstances including “the need to search for, collect, and appropriately examine a voluminous amount of separate and distinct records that are demanded in a single request.” Your request fits this circumstance; therefore, the City will require additional time to respond. A response will be provided to you no later than May 4, 2017.

Mr. Waltman,

There are numerous units within the Department which utilize the items you are requesting. Please clarify if you are seeking items used for crowd control and/or situations which may involve our Covert Response Unit or MERGE teams, versus units that use items solely for training.

I am trying to seeking items from the crowd control and CRU/MERGE teams primarily, however it would be interesting to get the training expenditures as well if it is not too much trouble. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Ok, understood.

Also, please note that the records provided will be purchases secured by a purchase order or grant funds.
