To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

On October 9, 2017, Texas Southern University issued a press release regarding an incident in which University President Dr. Austin Lane shut down an event organized by the Thurgood Marshall School of Law Student Bar Association and Federalist Society. In the press release from Texas Southern University, it states: "Several events have been cancelled in the past on campus because procedures were not followed."

Please provide a list of all Thurgood Marshall School of Law-related student events that have been registered with the Division of Student Services since October 9, 2016. Please also provide a list of those events that have been cancelled, including the student organizations involved and the reasons for cancellation, since October 9, 2016, as described in the October 9, 2017 press release.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Good Afternoon Hayden,

I was informed that:

Prior to September 2017, we did not keep records. Any student organization could request to reserve a room for any event, and the request would be granted. The current system was started under the newly elected SBA officers during their planning strategies in the summer of 2017. The system actually started after classes commenced in fall 2017. But due to Harvey, the student organization retreat was not held until after we returned from the storm. Thereafter, the system began.

In lieu of these records, please provide the records upon which the statement "Several events have been cancelled in the past on campus because procedures were not followed." was based by the Office of University Advancement in their October 9, 2017 press release, as archived here: http://archive.is/DXfeo.

These records may be in the possession of Office of University Advancement, Office of Campus Organizations, or the Office of the University President.

Thank you.

There are no documents in the possession of Texas Southern University to support it's claim that:

"Several events have been cancelled in the past on campus because procedures were not followed."

In the press released issued by Texas Southern University archived here: http://archive.is/DXfeo.

And no documents, memos, or e-mails related to the creation of that press release?

Thank you.
