This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
Any and all CPSC reports on the recall of Magnetix (Recall #07-164) or initiated by the Chicago Tribune investigative series on the Magnetix recall.
I also request that all fees be waived as I am a journalist -- employed by MuckRock and the Boston Globe -- and intend to use any pertinent information I receive as a result of this request to educate the public.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

This message is in response to your e-mail inquiry from August 25, 2014, regarding the status of FOIA Request #14-F-00382. Thank you for submitting a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The manufacturer has been notified of the material we are proposing to disclose for this request. The manufacturer (or its legal representative) has requested an extension in the amount of time they have to respond to our notice. Their request for an extension to submit their comments and claims of confidentiality has been granted until September 5th.
Once we receive their submission, it must be reviewed and we must decide whether we agree or disagree with the comments and claims in their submission. We are required to notify the firm of our decisions regarding their response. Please check back with us in a few weeks for an update on the status of your request.
